Katheryn's Song:

Villanelle

A slip of the tongue like agnathan

From the temperate region comes,

The gloriously handsome, Rasmussen.

Totally besot was our little Katheryn

With minimal effort her heartstring strums,

A slip of the tongue like agnathan.

The sweetness of saccharin

All her defenses he overcomes,

The gloriously handsome, Rasmussen.

She should listen to her gut, hear her abdomen.

Rose colored glass blinds and numbs,

A slip of the tongue like agnathan.

The air -like intake of cyanogen

Totally absorbed she succumbs.

The gloriously handsome, Rasmussen.

Oh, why oh why couldn’t it have been Magnuson

Her endomorphic brain plumbs

A slip of the tongue like agnathan

The gloriously handsome, Rasmussen.

Interesting. I couldn't work out what Agnathan was. Agnatha is a jawless fish. Cyanogen is a gas that interferes with breathing. And endomorphic means rounded, with a tendency to fat. Now, before you get upset, it's actually quite a lovely poem. It has a nice rhythm. I suggest you treat it as a first draft and have an edit. And pay attention to your commas - they are all over the place and you are one full stop missing. This all comes with practice so keep practising and I look forward to reading your next one.
