Happiness.
A destination or
a journey?
Can you hold it,
like an orb humming between your hands?
Can you smell it,
like the coastal aroma of sunscreen?
Can you hear it,
does it coo like a morning dove?
Upon arriving at the destination
of happiness, will you feel it forever?
or will the longing only grow?
Almost always you can find happiness
in bits and pieces around you,
peaking through cracks on the sidewalks,
and circling through life stages.
It is all about
the little things.
The rays of sunshine gleaming through your windows.
The cool shapes cats can morph into.
The smell of freshly brewed coffee.
When your plant grows a new leaf.
When the clouds do the "Toy Story" wallpaper thing.
The belly-hurting laughter from a good joke.
When your bed is made with clean sheets.
The flowers blooming.
The sounds of throwback songs.
Grabbing brunch with friends or family.
Your favorite things and
the little elements that make your day,
That is happiness.

Just Sixty Seconds
Oliver sat at a cold, grey steel-covered table. He knew he was next. The longer he sat here, the more confident he knew he wouldn’t make it. His hands were tied to the chair he was sitting on, pushed up against the steel table. A small camera in the corner of the ceiling with a tiny red flashing light was the only thing he was focused on. He felt sick to the stomach. He knew he didn’t have long.
