As if compelled by poor judgment
My mouth spoke
Before my mind could catch up
And like that began the struggle
In an instant I saw my demons
Between two words fell everything
Upon which my shoulders it rested
As the weight bore down on me
So too did the clouds fall from the sky
As the air turned bitter I took shelter
Under your roof I thought I could stay
Within the eye of the storm
You commanded an air of calm
But the spring broke your resolve
And I lost hope before the first bloom
If only I could have waited for those flowers!
Oh! The brash actions of men,
And how we seem to hurt ourselves to feel alive
