sometimes at night I lay my head on the pillow thinking of the ways you hurt me
Then I remember that it isn’t about you
For once in my life, right there, in the dark, I thought about me
I realized in that moment that I was important and relevant
I realized that despite how many times you tried to knock me down, I would always get back up
And Now, no thanks to you, I will always know my importance.
