Thoughts of mine

Swirl and twirl

From pen to ink it tapers

Bringing forth the flow,

The afterglow

Immortalized on paper

***

The thoughts of mine

Gathered over time

The good, the bad, and more

They clutter my mind

And prevent sleep at bedtime

But are exorcised by my ink laden rapier

***

In the depths of the night

As I twist and turn

Frustrated with insomnia

Staring at the floor, the walls, the doors

Sleep dances away from the thoughts of my day

And memories of my past lovers

***

I finally take up my pen

And empty my brain

As the page is filled with stray thoughts

I finally turn over and relax once more

And drift off into happy slumbers

***

In the morning I find

Another poem of mine

And a mind clear and quietly at peace

Happily, I sigh when bedtime is nigh

As I drift off into effortless slumbers…

…Ah but poetry is a delight for both the writer and reader
