I See the World
by R.C. McLeod
I see the world, a living creature –
she provides the sweet scents and
colors; the gift to all her creatures.
Blossoming, blooming, withering…
Alive, a world of exploration.
---
I see the world and its colors,
the unbridled joy as life unfolds.
Eyes that dance with summer colors
and smiles that never fade.
Blissful, a world of content.
---
I see the world as a child,
confused but carefree, happy simply to be.
Naïve and distracted, just a child –
so brightly unaware.
Innocence, a world of distance.
---
I see the world with a tempered mind,
a world fading behind its own greed.
Thoughtless killing and reckless minds,
senseless acts of violence.
Immoral, a world of darkness.
---
I see the world through salty eyes,
somehow broken – yet still alive.
False smiles and vacant eyes,
never knowing what one faces.
Alone, a world of silence.
---
I see the world with no tomorrows,
a race so unaware of its destructions.
A parasite, leaching away tomorrow –
do we see our future dissolving?
Terminal, a world that’s fading…
---
I see this world, through thoughts not blinded
by religion, by prejudice, by my own self.
I see my ancestors and strangers blinded
by their own justifications.
Limited, a world of demise.
I see the world, the fight for change,
the constant strife for better lives.
Our battlefields stained with words of change
but the oppressors always silent.
Hopeful, a world for all.
