I’m Sorry

Would you take me back

It’s not the same without you

You know the truth of this,

Your love means so much more

Than it ever could with his.

***

There’s no shiver at his touch

Running up and down my spine,

Certainly no magical sensations

When his lips meet mine.

***

No fluttering heart beats

When he gathers me in for a kiss,

My thoughts are for who I really love

That one I longingly miss.

***

How much longer will I pay

For my biggest mistake,

For the reason I miss you

And the torture I take.

***

If I was to say, “I’m truly sorry”

Could we go back to before,

Would you forgive me in your heart

And love me once more?

***

I never dreamed of hurting you

So if I said “I’m sorry” one more time,

Would you take me back

And tell me all will be fine?

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
