I Fight

A Poem

Can you help me?

Get me out of my head

It’s a war zone,

Can it be something else instead?

Let me be lighter

This is all too heavy for me

I don’t feel like a fighter

But I fight

Only because I know the weight I would leave behind

For those who never got the chance to help me with mine

A handful of pills

A whirlwind of feelings

I shutdown

What was I thinking?!

I’ve been asked,

“Would you ever act on these thoughts?”

Never did I say yes at all

With life dragging me to the edge

With life beating the shit right out of me

It felt better not to have a life at all

Help me

I’ve done a terrible thing

Heal me

It seems I’m not breathing
