My wife tells me she’ll always be with me,
My family tells me that they’ll always be there for me,
My neighbor tells me I’m at the peak of Everest, now that I have a job,
The astrologer tells me to perform a puja and I’ll be back on my heels,
TV ads tell me their products would take me to ecstasy,
The doctor tells me to exercise, and I’d be as flexible as a rubber band,
My boss tells me to complete his projects, And I’d shoot to the top ranks,
Politicians confidently proclaim, they work for my betterment.
These false statements are part and parcel of life, not to be frowned upon,
But to be taken to heart through both your ears.
Because to not be cheated by lies like these,
Is the worst way to live your life.
