A Love Poem

I Do Love You

as it may seem -

I do love you, for you

I want more than your body.

But, that was all you were giving and I took it

I looked to the future in hopes of a changed you.

That is why I stayed.

Something, just a flicker -

A moment of motivation to saves this whole mess!

But no - here we are again.

Empty bottles on the night stand.

And yet you have no shame.

I would argue but you wouldn’t remember the next day.

I would shout but it would only hurt my voice.

In a way, I am in love with your addictions too.
