Hospital

As telephone operators at a hospital all we ask if for respect. What is the point of a voice recording with the name of the department good for when callers just yell? Show respect to all around. We are all as important as the next.

A place to get care.

You walk into a hospital, what do you see? I see people walking around aimlessly

Not knowing where they need to go, not keeping a calendar or notes

Yelling at others because they can't be responsible for their own

We are a facility for healing and care

Why must you yell at us? Is it because no one else is here?

They say it is customer service with a smile, but how long will you take this?

How much longer can it go on?

You come here for treatment not for your pleasure

A hospital is a place to be seen, not a new hang out scene

Your family and friends are getting the care they need

Stop making assumptions when floors are busy as bees

They are here for a reason, let us do our job

You can care with all your heart, but the yelling must stop

We are doing the best we can with this pandemic at hand

Be kinder and show respect

When will this come into play?

Feeling overwhelmed as the rest of the floors, but we can only answer phones

We have out hands tied on what we can do

Be a little kinder and just get down to what you need us to connect you to

You don't need to take out your frustrations on us

Just because we are the first voice you hear, since you didn't listen to the prompts in your ear

Have patience when possible and know that we are too

We are a hospital with sick people, let us do what needs to be done

Hospitals are a place for the sick. We care for our patient the best we know how. We try to direct calls in an orderly fashion. It doesn’t help when people call and scream at us when we aren’t even the ones making any of the calls. You can’t take out your frustrations on the first voice you hear, have some patience. This is a pandemic but hospitals are still run the same. Show respect and kindness, it will go along way. I know I seem frustrated but that is because I am. No matter the tone of my voice it seems that no one cares. I can only be helpful when you know what you need. You can’t just blame me because I am the first voice you hear. You should be prepared with a name or department you wish to be connected to. You should be responsible for your appointments or receiving phone calls. We all have cellphones or a house phone with a voicemail. Lets stop blaming others for our own mistakes, be adults and take responsibility. When asked direct questions just answer the question, we don’t need a whole story again we are tied at our hands on what we can do as a telephone operator. It isn’t our fault or responsibility to know it all. If we did we would be playing a part in this world that isn’t for us. Accept our help or just move on. Don’t swear or get upset cause we have done nothing wrong. At the end of the day just remember this, respect is earned when given! Don’t teach what you can’t preach!
