Hoping & Holding On

A Poem

By George GriffithsPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Are you staying?

Heartbreak at its hardest,

Finding a way to undo the harnesses

Holding the weight of my love

Take a moment,

Make this last,

Hoping you’ll stay,

But hope is a heartache

Wide awake while you’re sleeping,

I just need a reason to be so forgiving,

I’ve asked so many times;

Told you what I’m feeling,

Are you even listening?

So oblivious,

So indecisive and dishonest,

It’s written over your eyes

If we could take a second to notice

Where this is going,

Would we know?

Where I was laying,

I was praying that you’d be mine,

We could hold onto one another

And tell each other,

“I still feel the same”

Memories on tv screens,

Pictures we’ve taken

Will you stay to watch them with me?

But in the absence of you,

I’ll ask;

Where did the love go?
