honor understood

blessed solitude

not speaking of those poor babies,

but you've been noble.

I saw you then, I see you now,

always holding all that freedom in

your eyes,

the wild sanctuary there.

we sat together

at the beginning of our journeys

for just a little while,

our spirits running the glades

striding the tideline

together, our unspoken forevers

lining the spaces between us,

a masterpiece.

I was perhaps hellbent

and beyond rescue

even then,

too hard to stand with;

I had to leave you there.

but know: it's in the honor of you

and what you sacrificed

that I am here at all.

in the name of trueheartedness

and the keeping of the word Love,

I send you my fondest regards.
