History Of The Queen

Blackout Poetry

Deserted lies the city,
Once full of people
Like a widow
Who was great amongst the nations
She was a queen
Now a slave
Bitterly at night
Tears on her cheek
Lovers, no one there to comfort her
All friends betrayed
All have become enemies
After affliction and harsh labor
She has gone into exile
Dwelling amongst the nations
Finding no resting place
All who have pursued her
Have overtaken her
Midst her distress
Roads mourn; as no one comes to her festivals
Her gateways‐-desolate
Elders groan
As well as the young grieve
In bitter anguish
Foes become masters
Making enemies at ease
Up high; there is grief
Because of many wrongdoings
