Her Eyes Were The Color of The Sky

Sometimes it takes distance to drown out the why

She was happy...

But nothing like she had ever felt before

Her sadness was limited

As the excitement of life was even more

The sights, the scenery... it captured her heart

No more abuse or hateful voices to tear her apart

So many miles were traveled to get her to a better place

A life that felt meaningful

Not that of waste

She left behind so many that she daily would miss

Yet, she knew the sacrifices would be worth the bliss

The days and nights of silence and the dreaded unknown

Were slowly washing away with each saltly wave

As the kiss of the sun on her glowing skin

Was all that she could see

Her mind, heart, and soul were filled with endless possibility

You could see it in her smile

Her presence was loud and proud

With the reflection of the sky consuming her eyes

Her dreams were no longer just shapes formed in the clouds

With each forceful push and pull by the ocean

Her body was covered from head to toe with sand

It was at that very moment...

She knew she was exactly where she was meant to land!
