You need some heate to meake some luve
The Baltic air jus’ won’ suffice
For whin ye try to kess ‘er leps
Ye may jus’ fin’ ‘em sheer whi’ ice
Aye pey yer bells ‘n pey em righ’
In aut’mn ‘n in wint’ar
A waurm-like kess ‘n January
Meakes the nights less bitt’ar
Wee litl’uns soon well be aroun’
Whin heate meakes luve in June
And you’ll be happiar trus meh son
And dancing to ‘er tune.
Author's Note:
Written 10 Years Ago
Original Author's Note: I wrote this poem using a saying that my wife and I use regularly. It sounds like "You need hate to make love" but it's actually, "You need heat to make love". I tried to make the poem as clean as possible for propriety's sake, but I thought this concept would go nicely with Robert Burns' "A Red, Red Rose". My tribute to the poem was the last stanza lines 2 and 4 with the use of June and Tune. There's also another nice little progression I stuck in there if you can find it, it's not hard to find if you're looking.
