Heartbroken
Not because I'm in love with you.
Heartbroken.
And not because I’m in love with you,
Or neither you with me.
But it is precisely because of this,
this unromantic state of bliss
we’ve caught the eyes of others
who speak not to us, but to one another
about what they think we say and feel
although none of it is real.
They utter words of a devious nature,
whispering tales of betrayal and danger.
Where they start,
who speaks them first,
this remains a mystery.
And everywhere I look it’s only lies that I can see.
You don’t deny them, you don’t even flinch
when I tell you these words which should make you cringe.
So what is going on
that you can act so nonchalant,
while I stand here so oblivious
as to why another is envious
of a love that does not even exist.
And because you don’t seem to care
that these lies are festering there,
because it seems you are indifferent
or would prefer to play ignorant
as to how our friendship is affected
rather than put any effort in to see it protected,
indeed, because of all these things
its taken off on broken wings,
Its innocence has been stolen
and this is why my heart is broken.
