Heartbeat

The Sound of Life

Blood pulsating through the veins

The sound reverberating through the ear drums

Each thump tells a miraculous tale

As it circulates the life force

From the crown of the head to the tips of the toes

Every inhale and exhale writes the story

Of the breath of life rhythmically flowing in and out

Sending nourishment throughout the wonder of the human body

Listen closely as the heart beats it's strong regular pattern

Thump thump thump thump

Renewing the life of the flesh

So much power for a fist sized organ

Controlling the entirety of living beings

Making sure all systems are go

Until the heartbeats come to a screeching halt

The breath of life ceases blood flow stops

Flatlined silence the end
