Heart on my sleeve
The place we get punched
The place we get shots
Why would I want to wear my heart there?
Maybe you could tattoo an anchor on the very spot, one that says, “MOM”
Or ring the same spot with barbed black ink
But a heart on a sleeve,
a heart on a sleeve?
Where military stripes are worn,
And noses carelessly wiped (a bit farther down, on the forearm, but still)
You never know, there might even be an ace or two up there, usually it’s the Ace of Spades, but never the Ace of Hearts
So why the hell would I want to wear my heart there?
