This poem was inspired by a prompt by Teisha LeShea of the Vocal support group Vocal Creators Saloon.

Here’s to my very favorite fruit

The apple’s versatility has no dispute.

Its pleasing flavor is absolute.

*

Apples have a lovely crunch.

Eat one every day with lunch.

Better go and buy a bunch.

*

Sweet or tart, go have a slice.

Shake it up with cinnamon spice.

Whatever your choice, the taste is nice.

*

Chop it for a fruit kabob.

Applesauce? Go scoop a glob.

At a party, they’re there to bob.

*

Bake them in a yummy pie.

With one a day, doctors needn’t apply,

And you’ll be the apple of my eye!
