Let’s give thanks to the memories that will never be forgotten.
Those days of excitement and those nights of exploration.
What do I see when I close my eyes?
A voyage of self-discovery; a journey of ease.
Moments that will set free that sensation-seeker inside of me.
Anxiety took a backseat for many years.
You were the leader and I was your follower.
Without your dares challenging me, those floodgates would never have opened.
So, I thank you.
I hold onto your back as you whisk me around.
Tears of laughter and nostalgia streaming down both of our faces.
Then, reality sets in…
A somber feeling correctly aligns in our hearts.
I realize that I must let go of your shoulders and move away from this dream.
I realize that I must take control of my own life and become my own leader.
I realized that I was in love with the adventure.
I was in love with the rush, the unpredictability, and the danger.
But you can’t be in love with just those obsessions,
because that is the most dangerous type of love.
It will sweep you away but you never know where it will take you.
After a brief pause, I lean forward and whisper in your ear,
hoping for all the happiness in your future,
“Goodbye forever.”
