go swift and on, our wrangler song
a shanty from the rough wranglers of hodle
Go swift and on, our Wrangler song,
‘Till all the sea be dry.
And scurvy-snacks, upon our backs,
For chance things go awry.
On skiffs we’ll go, we’ll heave and ho,
Once kissed our lovers bye.
We have no fear, though it be drear,
The wise say we may die.
The wise are fools, so full of rules,
What’s death when we are spry?
Harpoons are sharp, and so are darts,
We’ll throw them in the sky.
We’ll never quit, ‘till prey is hit,
From morn until the nigh,
We’ll slay the cows, from on the prow,
Their sweet meats we will fry.
Our loves will praise, and songs they’ll raise,
Sweet ballads they will cry.
Go swift and on, our Wrangler song,
‘Till all the sea be dry.
