After the parade

That day

when the street's heart pulses to the beat of unity

the ground becomes glitter

the world bursts with love colors and a warm blanket made of pure joy

and everything is whirled together in beautiful, beautiful chaos

tethered together by entwined fingers and the smell of roses.

and love and life and sex and love and

don't blink don't blink don't blink

Stay in this moment with me. Stay here. Stay.

because it will all go away. And when it goes away the street dies.

Sludgy water washes the glitter down the drain like city blood

the ghosts of music fade into gray buildings

and dark thoughts and dark deeds and dark doings take over

I hate they hate you hate we all hate again

because it's so much easier that way.

After the parade ends.

How soon they forget.

How soon we forget.
