Gives Me the Ick

What gives me the ick

are

shoes on the carpet,

staying in gym clothes,

words like:

"Don't cry",

"Man up",

"Do better",

wet hair and sleeping in socks

cleaning drains,

and picking up after dogs

dust bunnies,

and dirty bathrooms

words like,

"Nothing tastes as good as being skinny feels",

"The customer is always right",

and "I wasn't talking to you"

bullies, tweens,

and fast fashion

going to the dentist,

when pets lick their owner's faces,

and when people don't tip correctly

rust, deep water, rollarcoasters, slime,

and the smell of cigarettes.

but nothing compares

to the ick I get

with the words,

"He's almost close to retirement. If you report him, he will lose everything."
