...for love is as strong as death; (Song of Solomon 8:6)
Villanelle Poem
jealousy is as cruel as the grave
in a cemetery during a violent storm.
It is never satisfied and always craves
the innocent and lost. It depraves
those genuinely seeking friendship, the safety of loving arms.
Jealousy is as cruel as the grave
or like a plantation master beating his runaway slave
to intentionally kill or harm.
It is never satisfied and always craves,
to cowardly take by force though appearing brave.
More dangerous than a false fire alarm.
Jealousy is as cruel as the grave
with a plaque having the name 'Anonymous' engraved,
implying no acknowledgment to the person to whom it belongs.
It is never satisfied and it always craves
and indulges in misfits. It misbehaves,
never admitting to its wrongs.
Jealousy is as cruel as the grave.
It is never satisfied and always craves.
