Fishing For Scorpions
Finding love: Caught between a rock pool and a hard place.
Alice? Who the f**k is Alice?
Lying and waiting at rock bottom No one cares... so sod ’em. Craving anonymity, You wear a cloak of invisibility To hide the insecurities.
Awkwardness pricks and burns - Guts wrenching, it rolls and churns Like sediment on the seafloor, Flowing through your very core And oozing out of every pore.
Starts up like an annoying itch, Ends up like some crazy bitch. Far from kind and far from nice, Irritation doesn't think twice, It's a dangerous poison in paradise.
Ugly features, ugly thoughts, Sick, tired and distraught. Caught up in bucketfuls of shame, Fed up with the waiting game, When you’ve only got yourself to blame.
Anything to numb the pain, And sink into the dark again. "Eat me, drink me," the voices said, "Your life is hanging by a thread, You're kind of extinct, better off dead?"
Alice by the rock pool that ripples - A perfectly imperfect balance, distorted by riddles. A rainbow loving spirit shouldn't have to hide. A rainbow loving spirit wears colours with pride. So bury that sad, prickly feeling and repeat, “At least I tried."
Grief pulls love lines like a weight, Yet passion dangles with deeper bait. Dare you catch your deserved dessert And let go of all the pain and hurt? Create a sea storm, maybe flirt?
Is the eye of your emotional storm more calm? Does your vulnerability do more good than harm? Should you swim - just in case? Flounder in a safer place? Or trust and embrace the chase?
Alice in the rock pool, will you sink or swim? Can you find reverence out on a limb? Can you face your reflection even with a frown? Can you face your fears and not want drown?
You want to feel connected? Not empty and rejected? Forget you - the over thinker? Hook, line & sinker... Cheeks flush even pinker.
Flirt?
Fall in love?
With myself?
I do.
