Final harvest
Savouring the gifts of summer amidst climate change

I feel the fire of solstice
arriving just in time
to sweep me right off my feet
and ripen fruit on the vine
Somehow amidst the raindrops
the pollinators have been dancing
Tending to delicate blossoms
budding and romancing
And what if it’s the final year
with abundant fruit to bear?
I will enjoy every last nectarine
‘til nectar drips from my hair
