Final Goodbyes

A Poem

A final decision,

Made in the hardest hour,

To escape what’s within.

To be free of this hurt that has seized his heart,

The poison that has invaded his blood,

I’d like to say he’s stronger,

He’s not,

He’s been lying to himself.

He’s been on his own,

And he doesn’t care if he’s wrong,

He decides It’s time for him to do it on his own,

It’s over now, and there’s nothing that he wants more than to be alone -

To be at peace now.

You’ve been given the keys,

He’s given you the signs,

And at no point has he been fine.

He has an enemy, and that enemy is his mind.

He won’t go back to living his lies,

He doesn’t want to pretend to be something or someone he’s not.

All he hopes is,

the words he has said to help you will continue to do so,

“Remember, never be afraid to try things on your own -

to live your life the way you want.

Continue to do things that will make you happy,

Laugh louder and smile harder!”

These are his final goodbyes,

Please don’t think about it too much.

“This is me taking control of what has taken control of me.”

I scream in absolute horror,

The pain floods me,

My eyes sting, and my throat feels as if it’s on fire.
