Fear grips my every waking day,

A constant presence that won't go away,

It eats at me and consumes my soul,

Leaving me feeling less than whole.

I walk with my head down, eyes cast low,

Afraid of the world and all its unknowns,

I shy away from new experiences,

And let my fear control my senses.

My heart races and my palms grow slick,

When faced with something new or quick,

My mind goes blank and my knees shake,

My fear taking over with each step I take.

But I know that I cannot let it win,

I must face my fear, let the healing begin,

For only then can I truly live,

And all the joy that life can give.

So I take a deep breath and lift my head,

Confront my fears, release the dread,

I let go of the past and embrace today,

Living my life in a new and courageous way.
