Eyes

All I wish I could tell you is I miss you

I want to hold your face in-between my hands

And look you in the eyes and tell you

That no, you don’t understand my pain

You don’t understand how much it hurts

That it hurts more to lose you that to fight for you

To tell you how I found everything in you

That when I found you, I found my broken pieces

And you helped glue them back together

All I wish I could tell you is I love you

No matter what, no matter when or where

I love you, as whoever you choose to be

And when I looked into your eyes every time…

What I saw staring back at me was my own heart

A heart you had rightfully stolen without knowing it

Your eyes held so much of what I loved

And the love I was willing to give til the end of time

But now...the only eyes I can look into are my own

Staring back at me from a dark empty screen.
