"Existence is pain!" and Other Lies I've Told Myself - Mija Richardson

chapter 3 - realisation

Is communication the key to healthy human socialisation? Or is it simply an excuse used for one person's poor effort? Sometimes I crave normal knowing, the subtle yet sweet reassurance. Will it ever come? I hope. It will, I think. I know it will, possibly. When I think it will it does violently, winding its way into my heart and clamping like the wonderful release of anger. The pure yet tarnished message is all one needs to know one knows.

The poor men of the world find the joy in the plain, the basic. The rich men of the world find their pleasure in the divine. Where does the average, middle man find the rest? The peace that we need as a human, where do the mediocre sit?

The struggles of talking, so complex the words we speak. Rigorous texts, fiery hands and sharp wit are the ways in which we love. The gentle and the slow are the ways we can express. Yet the gentle are ripped from their sockets and replaced with the cynical concrete of the brain.

Tight lips and closed smiles never make for happiness. Can we expect to keep this in partnership? It works, within reason. The trust is frayed, hearts healing. One false move. Worry. The ache I feel deep is one that is soothed by you. You’re no longer my saviour, moreso my mentor. Many lessons you’ve taught, many more exploited. The unfairness isn't spoken of, and you need to make it known. Acknowledge me, hold those accountable. Your warmth is what i need, my maturity is what you need. It seems we’ve reached an impasse. Open to me, I'll grow for you.

Yet, when communication becomes essential, it becomes like the sand when it’s wet, clumpy, chunky. Brittle. Crumpled. Almost important enough as the silence when things needed to be said. Boxes of wet sand are unpacked, more ideas elaborate and both get washed away with salt water.

Is communication the key to healthy human socialisation? How long is a piece of string? How is simplicity the most complex thing in the universe? Will the answers ever come? I hope. They will, I think. I know they will, possibly.
