Eventide

Twilight Harbor

Like jasmine blooms

That fill the heart

That scent

The summer shade

A song surfaces

Across the water

Strumming a wistful strain

The tune, like sage, drifts

And softens

In a retreating breeze

Bears a promise

In the faint light

Like a single

Remaining leaf

A stir of wind –

A pirouette

Shifts

Golden powdery sands

I listen to the sea bird’s call –

The final refrain of day

My heart keeps pace

With the tune

Of gentle purling waves

While shadows gather

Then weigh anchor

Inside the empty cove

The undefined forms pale

Over a crest

Outside the darkening bay

The horizon

A curtain –

A rose and blue veil

Closing the ending scene
