Waiting for someone to safely return home

Embers of twilight flicker in her weary eyes,

Candles lit by trembling hands, her spirit's silent cries.

Lonesome shadows stretch across her room, each night anew,

In her heart, a battlefield as grim as Ukraine's view.

Prayers whisper from her lips, a fragile thread of hope,

Sending love across the miles, through war's uncertain scope.

Each dawn breaks with fear; she yearns for his safe return.
