Dry Earth

A series of haikus

The empty pond sighs

When puffy clouds above it

Refuse to drop rain

-

Beside the dry pond

A flower looks to the skies

And cries out with thirst

--

The thirsty rabbit

Is perishing in a field

Of wilting brown grass

---

The world lays in waste

Waiting for the rain to come

But cannot find it

----

White clouds look below

But they cannot change themselves

They can give nothing

-----

Rain is much darker

When looming low in the sky

In big heavy clouds

------

But grey clouds are gone

They have been banished away

By those with full cups

-------

The world is searching

For the life-giving waters

That bring about peace

--------

The world cannot see

That which looks scary to it

Helps it grow stronger

---------

So welcome the dark

And do not hate the sunshine

Both nourish the earth

----------

Oh that all the world

Brought differences together

And loved each other
