There is no god and I am melting.

there is no god and i am melting,

i am the face of the underground: quite unholy.

you can not nail me, your crucifix is dainty.

i am the taste of copper on your tongue,

steel wool rubbing down your arms,

lime juice on open wounds,

it’s a little thing called

aching.

i look up to the sky and see nothing,

i see nothing...

not even the stars that are straddling

the stratosphere because the world is polluted

in the smog that is suffocating the animals

and our bodies adapt to the toxic air

but the ozone is cracking and the world is crashing down

but i guess we don’t see that from our single perspectives

when a crack in the atmosphere

leaks out gases in the masses that are clouding our once starry sky.

how long will the phrase “i see stars when i’m with you” mean anything to anyone? soon,

we’ll live in a place where no one has seen stars.
