Don’t You Ever Want To Change

12/24/11

You are as you ought to be

You are who you are

There’s no way to change

Even if you wanted to, period.

Do you ever wanna change?

Don’t you ever want to change.

You are who you are

For better or worse.

We’re where we ought to be

We’re who we are

We’re when and why

We’re how and what we are to be

Don’t you ever want to change

You suit you just fine

Build your house out of timber

Of oak and of pine

Rhyme if you will

Make time with the beat

Hear the sound

Of marching feet

But don’t go along

With all the others

Don’t go along

Don’t you go and change

Be absurd and free

Rather than

Chained and regular

Irregular is not a curse

But in verse I find

A moment in time

When I am not me

Rather I am free
