Do We Choose to Stay Here

A Poem of Sorrow

A fight is a cry for help, a ladder, a lateral motion

Everyone is drowning and pulling each other under

An iota of Self-awareness a strange idea, a foreign notion

Despite being battered by a snowstorm

A flurry of fury

Of worried emotions.

Alas the distrust, that accuses before it loves

Alas the wounds, that bleed before they heal

Alas the ego, that has no strength to save

But here we are together

Here in battle

Do we choose to stay here

Where the bitter pain rattles?

I think you need me, a person who sees your wants

But everyone wants something, and some want to survive

But could I be the only one understanding, who cares what haunts you

Despite the fact you say you know me

My hollowed out heart

Is starving and gaunt.

Alas the misreading, that interprets my words against me

Alas the insecurity, that attacks your ally

Alas the pride, that has no will to save me

But here we are together

Here in the war

Do we choose to stay here

Where the words welt sores?

I love you, I love you

That's all I can say

You love me you love me

When will you say it

I love you I love you

But you refuse to believe it

You love me you love me

I try to hope

But I can't see it.
