Do I Succumb?

I'm wading

Wasting away

Nowhere to go

Nothing to do

Leagues from the lighthouse

Though I still see the light

I take a deep breath

And am engulfed by the black of the sea

Each wave working against me

As I attempt to swim to the beacon

Every stroke of mine

Is met by a black wall

Its closing me in

I lose my breath

I've lost control

Coughing, gagging

I know that I'm drowning

Do I succumb to the waves

Of this untamable blackness

Or do I fight?
