Living: Fast and Slow
5am ⏩
hit fast forward
we’re on a schedule —
even for moments
of self-care; breakfast; journal
even my roomba is zooming along.
5pm ⏸
the day rests,
time pauses, resumes slow play.
my dinner is mindful,
filling every crevice,
noting the gentle beauty
in every passing moment.

Uphill Climb
Perhaps she was there after all
clawing her way upwards
in name of ambition
but truly
to survive
to breathe
to feel
to belong
shriveled dreams still glittering.
***
Forgotten
his voice swinging free
velvety low notes
seducing me
not unlike looking into
luring sweet eyes
falling into a soft embrace
surrounded by
the mixture of song, words
forgetting that this
is just a memory.
