Found in the Future

Dark vans come at night.

Strip disorder from the streets.

Automatic weapons and faceless police.

Horror in the distance.

Bloodstained grass.

Heart beats and breath cease fighting fire and gas.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Don’t forget your blinders.

“It's not me they're after!”

There’s meat in the grinder

Lunatic's laughter.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Traveled home for my mother. Muted interaction.

Shortage of medicine. It's gone with the action.

Spoke with the Lieutenant.

“Security gets better rations.”

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Loose lessons on strict laws.

Do as you’re told.

An officer's tales of favorites he stole.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

“Don’t let him get away!”

It turns to a chase.

Sick jokes to the victim are spit in his face.

Can I tolerate this position? And believe that I care?

If not me than another, I can try to be fair.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

My mother is dead.

Visions of the truth regain.

Wishing for silence. Alone and ashamed.
