Depression

A poem

A flutter in the wind,

A tear on a cheek,

A bed unmade,

A dinner left undone,

A child's ballet class forgotten,

A carton of milk abandoned,

A pile of clothes rotting in the washer,

A dog without food,

A button not mended,

A marriage neglected,

A car left on E,

A million missed calls,

A family broken,

A shower skipped, again,

A dog forgotten,

A job slipping,

A sense of shame,

A feeling of helplessness,

A loss of appetite,

A drug abused,

A sleepless night,

A doubtful future,

A flimsy sense of self,

A cold shoulder,

A shamble of a life,

A heavy heart.
