"Dear Tragedy"

Dear Tragedy,

I saw you on the news yesterday

Your flames burned fiercely bright

No one knew what to say

It was so hard to watch...

Dear Tragedy,

Today I witnessed your wrath

The heat was so intense

You took everything in your path

And all I could do was watch...

Dear Tragedy,

You're stretched across our great land

Our people are crying out

But the top never extends a full hand

They just watch...

Dear Tragedy,

Once again you have come

Blanketing our land in ash and smoke

Can this battle even be won?

We can't stand to just sit and watch...

Dear Tragedy,

You've got us in your grip, for now

But we are Australian

And defeat, we will never allow

You just watch!
