Dear Sister from another Mother,

An open letter to all women

We never had the chance to meet. Our lives took different paths, right from day one. Yet in my heart, I know you. I know your struggles, your pain, your triumphs. For they are mine.

For every time you stood and stared into the mirror, wondering why you were alone, know I watched from the other side of the world, giving you strength and cheering for you. For us. For all of us.

Each challenge you faced, you did so with dignity. More than was expected of you. Know that your sacrifices were not in vain. For each victory made us all stronger.

Life did not treat you well. Every child deserves to be loved and supported. I am sorry your people did not do that for you. As you gaze into that glass and run your fingers over your skin, remember that each battle scar should be worn with pride. You earned every one. And you survived. For you are a warrior.

Stand tall in the waving grass. Raise your face to meet the sun. Let its rays warm you through to the feet that hold you steady. Indulge in the healing energy and cleanse your soul. For you are worthy.

Walk the solitary path of those who have been pushed and molded, bent and broken, but know that you are not alone. For you are one of many.

Seek your voice and share it with the masses. Find your words and tell the stories that others may learn. Hold out your hands to provide comfort for those coming up the path behind you. For you are a leader.

And above all, know that while we have never met, when we do, we will know each other. For we are sisters.
