Dear eighteen-year-old,

You might feel old

But you are still so young.

Your journey as an adult

Has only just begun.

I’m sure you can relate

To being a kid impatient for age.

Watching adults mingle,

with the facade of a sage.

While age gives you experience

Bringing you closer to truth,

Growing older makes most

Nostalgic for times of their youth.

If I could tell you one thing

At risk of sounding cliché,

It would be to be present

And make the most of each day.

Sincerely

An expired eighteen-year-old.
