Dead Man Talking

we set out on this road

Through the darkness and cold

Holding onto each other tight

And we’d laugh through the pain

And dance in the rain

And sheltered each other at night

Ours was a love

Lovers only dreamed of

Two souls melded to one

So we wrote out our vows

And declared them out loud

To the Father, the Spirit and Son

Our love was so strong

But it didn’t take long

For the cracks in our armor to fail

After only 12 years

I opened my fear

In that envelope found in the mail

What happened to us

What happened to love

What became of the vows we made

I gave you my best

You took half of the rest

And put all my fears on display

You poisoned our kids

And spoon fed them things

To win them to your side

You completed the task

What task? You ask

You made a living man die..
