Crossing the Threshold

You find yourself on a precipice

(And inevitably you will)

A choice has to be made

When you’re high up on the hill

You’re in-between-worlds at the top

In a place neither here nor there

No backwards and no staying still

You’ll have to go elsewhere

Looking back at where you’ve been

You’re trying to return

But as you turn to look around

Your trail’s about to burn

The footsteps of your path are lit

And now are up ablaze

You can’t remember where you’ve been

A memory in haze

You crawl back in desperation

Clinging on to life of past

But flames have burnt your fingertips

You turn around at last

Now you’re swaying back and forth

You know you have to move

You know you have to jump forward

But your brain does not approve

You can’t remember Who You Were

Yet don’t know Who You Are

Looking over from the top

The ground is just too far

You see whatever you want to see

Your hill will look like you

Maybe you’ll see tops of trees

Or maybe you’ll see blue

Perhaps your hill is symbolised

A metaphoric scene

A void of real nothingness

Describing what you mean

As you stare in unknown space

You try locate the floor

And then you get a curious sense

That you’ve been here before

Your body starts to tingle

Activating memory

You don’t remember name or age

But you know the hill clearly

You realise you’ve made the jump

But you can’t remember when

You know you’ve been between the worlds

And here you are again

You try to turn back one last time

And find there’s nothing there

The only comfort now it seems

Exists within the air

You know you have free will to choose

You’re awakened from your sleep

And so you have no choice at all

You know you have to leap

You don’t know what’s in front you

You can’t see what’s ahead

Breathing still you close your eyes

Your arms begin to spread

The winds of change now splash your face

You hear your own heart beat

The fear now is alchemised

As you gently move your feet

You’re on the edge of life unknown

Your toes are surely free

There’s nowhere to return to now

No other place to be

You plunge your body forward

As you finally let go

You’re moving through the portal

Letting go of all you know

You feel your nervous system

You’re aware of your bloodstream

As you know it, time has stopped

Your life is but a dream

It’s only now you realise

The mystery of illusion

Destination is a myth

You see there’s no conclusion

Your vision is clear as the day

It comes when you allow

And only when you make the jump

You see there’s only now

You understand that who you’ve been

And what you’ve chose to do

Accumulates in every way

To the now version of you

Falling turns to flying

As you glide across the sky

How could a soul ever forget

That you can surely fly?

And everything you thought you knew

Means nothing at this time

You move with birds and clouds above

As you shift the paradigm

You see there is no finish line

Past and future joint

You understand that jumping forth

Is actually the point

You’ve changed your own point of view

Now you know that you’re alive

Observing new perspectives

As they actively arrive

The world is now a different place

You don’t feel alienated

You understand that just your breath

Is something celebrated

You realise that if you’re here

(And now you really are)

The universe is itself

Through your avatar

You understand that you exist

(And now you know you’re here)

There is a purpose for your life

And nothing more to fear

You’re dropping into nothingness

Your will is never thwarted

You know for sure as absolute

You are always supported

Your birth is not an accident

And now you know it’s true

Remembering your life outside

Reflects your inner You

You question how you ever thought

That you were just alone

That you would be abandoned

When you jumped all on your own

You’re laughing uncontrollably

You’re smiling in the air

You never thought you’d feel such joy

With only yourself there

Now everything is funny

Even sorrow, loss and pain

Crossing past the threshold

You see only love remain

You notice now that little things

Are bigger things up close

And every moment of your life

Is really grandiose

Perhaps the ground begins to near

But you are not afraid

You’re touching down in epic style

Moving with your own upgrade

You’ve landed gently on the floor

As you begin to root

You look up at the hill above

And give a grand salute

Now you thank the threshold

You appreciate it’s there

You could not know the flying

If you didn’t even dare

Now you know the purpose

And why leaps of faith exist

Now you know why change itself

Will always well persist

You stand in quite a certainty

That you know nothing real

That all you’ll ever know for sure

Is what you truly feel
