Crawling Skin

A Short Poem about the fear of touch

A hug, a kiss, a touch of the hands...

All seem to make me flinch.

Be it friend or foe,

It puts me on overload.

My nerves process a mixture of pleasure and pain

But the line between these two is thin

My brain feels comfort and fear

A conflicting current runs across my skin

Afraid to feel I shy away

Some are angered and some are hurt

It's not their fault and it's not mine

I'm not sure how to get over this hurt

It's a hurdle to summit

A mental confusion of the nerves

Something I can barely stomach

Like a batch of bad Hors d'oeuvres

I ask for kindness and patience

While I do this system maintenance
