Seasons come and seasons go
Flowers bloom and rivers flow
Leaves flutter in the breeze
Presents from immortal trees
I carved our secret names in one
Beneath a radiant setting sun
Committed there for all to see
A testament to you and me
***
Years pretend and flitter by
As we blink and lock our eyes
Searching hidden meanings
Counting out the seasons
***
One, if I could help someone
Two, it may be me or you
Three, open both our eyes and see
Four, there really is no more
Just you and I together
Two birds of a feather
***
Autumn’s blush and winter’s snow
Bitter winds and summer’s glow
Spring brings creatures on the wing
Parental trees in which they sing
We shared it all and laughed as one
Lived and loved until it’s done
Not immortal as the sturdy tree
How I wish you’re here with me
***
The years just seemed to flitter by
Flashed before my blinking eyes
Still searching hidden meaning
And counting out the seasons
***
One, I need to help someone
Two, it may be me or you
Three, open up my eyes and see
Four, there really is no more
You flew away forever
On wings of light and feather
One, if it’s all said and done
Two, I know that I’ve lost you
Three, I had to set you free
Four, there really is no more
Left searching out the meaning
Counting endless seasons
