You can buy your virtue on amazon prime,

Pray to your monetary God it arrives in time.

My ethics are an aesthetic Instagramable subscription deal,

We’ll let the algorithm decide which parts are real.

There is no need to think when you can consume,

Buy your way into extasy to escape the impending doom.

For this consumerism, there’s more than economics at play,

Stuck in concrete hamster wheels we, the people, must obey.

First sell your soul at the utopia gate,

Explore shopaholic zoos and accept your fate.

Put down Plato’s book- there is no time to read,

A network of black mirrors will trap you to succeed.

Next consume neighbors, friends, family, and yourself,

Smile and take the regime’s pill for your mental health.

Don’t worry about your sickness, you are not alone,

There’s a lineage of consumers before you, it’s in your code.

To survive learn how to smile in poverty park,

Exhale altruism like a politician after cameras go dark.

Advertise empty labels and promising illusions,

Let people like your post and come to plastic conclusions.

Like the plastic polluting our waters, and mind,

Litter plastic moral for friends to find.

Omit all compassion from your daily routine-

Then post illusions of altruism to appear pristine.

It's easy to forget life beyond this black box,

but most of us desire real connection, an odd paradox.

Everybody wants to live as a perfect model,

But most will trade moral for chance of a coddle.
