Colony

A workers life

We live in hives

Cramped and stacked on top of one another

Filling our nests with honey

Building homes for our young

We spend the day

Exhausting ourselves with production

Gathering all we need

To survive

We return home

Nourish the budding life we have created

Inside our cells

Despite all odds

And at the end of the day

A grizzly shows up and takes away the bulk

Of all that we have earned

He gobbles it all up

Honey trickles from his chin

Wasting all we have worked for

He wipes it away with his domineering claws

And reaches for more
